Sanibel Island Visit

We're on our last day in Florida before heading north.   We thought we would take an early morning drive to Sanibel Island.  This very touristy but beautiful island is known for shelling.   We have been on a lot of beaches, and they're right.  The shells here are amazing.  Big shells and other interesting sea life remnants get caught up in the high tide litter...   Sanibel, It's a beautiful place to visit.

The interpretation poster said this is an egg caseing.

These shells are bigger than my hand.
Sanibel Lighthouse.  Very different
from our East Coast lighthouses.

Happy Anniversary to us

Seems like the Anniversaries come as quick as birthdays.  Today, we celebrate our 29th with a bottle of wine and nice dinner at the Olive Garden.

Looking forward to many more!

Love My Cat - Block 1 of 8 done

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

There are lots of festive things to do here in Florida to celebrate St. Patrick's Day.  Parades, special meals at all the restaurants, and of course, the wearing of the green.

It's taken two weeks to finish block 1 of my new little project, Love Me, Love My Cat.  (by Birdbrain Designs).

I've realized that the light in our rented condo is not great.  So my stitching progress is slow.   With so much to do here in southern Florida, I find I don't have as much stitching time as I thought I would have.   I have discovered that I love to stitch in the bright sunlight.  So, when I've had enough sun by the pool, I simply turn my chair around, and stitch a needle or two of floss.

The next block has signs of spring.  Besides the kittens, there are sweet flowers.   A nice reminder that spring is just around the corner.

A Florida Lizard

I know my grand-kids would love all the wildlife that lives in the community where we are renting here in Florida.   Lots of squirrels playing in the trees, tall white birds with long legs who walk slowly anywhere they want, and of course lizards who can scale even the sides of the condos.

Well the kiddos might not be excited about the reptiles, but they are very interesting to watch.    Here's a picture of one who was getting some sunshine until he heard the snap of my camera.  Then so quickly - he ran under a tree.    Yes, it was a nice warm day in Florida today.

Stitching Kitties

We've been in our Florida condo for a few days now, and just getting into a nice routine.   I thought I would have dug my stitching out long before now, but we have been so busy.
Today was the day.  I started working on the first of the kitten blocks I brought to Florida with me.   I intended to use some 12 wt thread that I brought with me, but after talking to a stitcher about flosses, she really encouraged me to try Cosmos floss.  She said it's to die for.   So I'm trying it.  So far, I don't see much of a difference.  I do like the close color variegation though.  The floss is variegated browns.  I just love the sweet faces on these kitties.
