First Fabric purchase in Florida

I'm in Florida.  Haven't touched a sewing machine for a couple of weeks.   Before we left Canada, knowing we were going to visit friends, I ordered this piece of fabric off Etsy and had it delivered to our friends house.  It was waiting for me when I arrived here. Isn't it so East Coast?  I just love it.  I'll use it to make little accents on some take-along bags or make-up bags.  I just love it.  I don't know which little patches I like better, the light houses, or the lobsters and crabs.   ...   Next week, I'll be prowling quilt shops looking for coordinating blue and red fabrics to use as the base fabrics for some little projects.

Enjoying Curacao

Enjoying a little time in Curacao.  Sweet place.  Love all the different colors of houses.  Looks something like Amsterdam but in the southern Caribbean.

Our Caribbean Princess ship in the back.

Recognize the fella sitting in the U?

Where were you when Man first walked on the Moon?

Do you remember when you watched the Man on the moon news coverage in the 60's.     We're in Florida, staying in Cocoa Beach for a few days.  Cocoa Beach is a sweet beach community famous for being near the Space Station.   We are staying at the newly updated home of the Original 7 Astronauts,  LaQuinta Inns and Suites.    It's fun to imagine the astronauts staying here in the 60's.

This guy greets all the guests as they check in.

Hand Stitching Project - To Go Please

I'm trying to decide what projects I will take with me.  I have changed my mind three times this week alone.   Do I take my machine or not... Car space is a premium.   But I think I'm leaning towards taking it.

For sure, I'm packing up my hand-stitching pouch.   I'm taking a few blocks of this sweet stitching project by Bird Brain Designs. It's called Love Me, Love my cat.   I first saw it when Sandi M. brought her completed project to guild last fall.  I just fell in love with it.

While I have all 8 blocks traced and layered and basted,  ready for hand-stitching, I'll only bring 4 with me.  I have a fabulous spool of variegated brown 12 wt Wonderful Fruitti thread that that I got from Country Crafts last year.    Perfect for this project.

I will start this in March when we check into our snowbird condo down south.  Watch for weekly progress reports.

Happy Birthday Aurora

She's 5 years old today.  She is so smart.

We had a little cake party for her and the triplets when she was here last weekend.  After blowing out the candles, Aurora was so glad to say, "Now I'm FIVE Years Old!!"   Later in the day she told me that her mother was going to make her another cake and have another party for her on her actual birthday. (which is today)   "And then I will be SIX years old!!" she said.

Funny how kids think eh!  Happy Birthday Aurora.

Have a look at the fabulous cake Aurora's talented mom made her for today.    Aurora will be thrilled!

Happy 11 years old

It's hard to believe, but yes, the triplets are 11 years old today.   Oh, how those years flew by.

This past weekend was really busy, but not to busy to celebrate birthdays with a big checkerboard cake.    Here all the kids are waiting for all those candles to be lit by grampie.

Happy Birthday Grace Caitlin and Mitchell.

Presenting "Catch a Falling Star"

Our little hand-quilting group at St. Anthony's finished this sweet quilt.  It's called Catch a Falling Star.

The design came from a quilt that I saw at the Sussex Quilt show a couple of years ago.  I just fell in love with it and knew it would make a perfect quilt for the St. Anthony's raffle.  The design is by Gail Ferron.  Check out her quilt in this post here.  She called it Sylvia's Stars.

We loved quilting the wide open white spaces with the squared feather pattern.   This queen size quilt will be raffled off and proceeds used for programs for seniors.
