Do you remember this? I pieced and paper pieced this Jewel as Christmas in July project at the end of July.
When I made it, the hot steamy weather had just hit us, and I thought I would just wait until the cool weather got here before I quilted and bound it.
The cool weather has arrived and this weekend I'm uddled up in my sewing room, finishing up some Christmas projects.
All along, this Jewel had great movement because of the pieced points. So when it came time to quilt it, I knew I would use motifs that added to the movement of the color. The swirls remind me of the winter wind.
This is a Karen Neary Yuletide Jewel pattern and it can be found here on Karen's site. Nice pattern Karen! I enjoyed binding it because it only had 2 corners to turn.
You can't really see how nice this Jewel sparkles, but it fits in perfectly as part of the holiday decor, and I'll be on my coffee table through the holidays.

Just beautiful ~ and you are right, the quilting does work perfectly. Love using colors other than the traditional red and green for Christmas decor!
This is just beautiful Gail! Your house must be filled with your amazing creations! How do you choose which ones to put out?
so pretty. I might like to try making one... MIGHT... I said MIGHT. I am such a chicken
Beautiful!
Gorgeous!! Love the movement.
Hi, Gail: It's lovely, and the feather quilting in that ring is perfect. I like the idea of using it on a table - we have an oval coffee table which will be perfect for that shape. Good thinking!
This is gorgeous and the blues are sew peaceful! And what a great idea to use it on the coffee table. I've made 2 for my daughters, one in glittery and one in traditional, and I was planning for a pink. But maybe blue wil be my choice. The quilting is stunning! Well done!!

Karen suggested I pop over to see your finished project. Lovely. I also like the swirls in the quilting.
Very nice Gail. It has a wintery feel with the swirls in the quilting
