A Cute Lion for For Baby

Isn't this a cute baby toy.  My sister showed me this link and I knew I just had to make one.  I have been making little tag blankets for a few years now, so these supplies were all in my sewing stash.    Here are a few pictures along the way.

Cut out a circle.  Use a fusable fabric to iron down a nose and eyes.  Satin stitch around the nose, eyes, and mouth.  I used a pen to draw on a mouth to use as a guideline.

After stitching.  Pin lots of ribbon loops around the edge.  Stitch the ribbons down using about a 3/8ths of an inch seam.

Then lay the face layer, ribbon side down, over the silky backing fabric and pin securly all around. Stitch using 1/4 inch seam.  Leave an opening to turn and lightly stuff.  Stitch up the opening.

I had a small bit of binding left over from another project.  I added it as a handle in place of one of the ribbons.

Hey Michele, you aren't so anonymous!
Gail, these are so cute. Unfortunately it seems like FV is not carrying anymore "bumpy" minkee like fabric...they have been out for ages. Maybe someday soon they will have it.

Jack is one lucky baby...the things you are making for him are so thoughtful and adorable...love the curtains, the travel bag and this lion!
