Yes, these are square muffins. The minute I saw this square muffin tin while in South Carolina, I knew I wanted it. I love different kitchen gadgets and I had never seen this before. 
I think it's intended to make simple stacked elegant deserts or blondies. I'll browse the internet to see what I come up with, other than my heart healthy muffins.

I agree- they DO look tasty- are they Bran? or Carrot? or...? I suppose Carrot would be fitting...you'd better hide them away or the Easter Bunny might munch on them all...
That looks like a good-sized pan..
